These are a few BTS iphone snaps from my latest assisting job with Dustin Miller for American Heart Association. Becoming an efficient camera assistant has been a journey. The challenging task of a 1st AC has made me appreciate the complex nature of a well working camera department. Over the past couple of months I have been learning what it means to be a 1st AC and how to do the job well. Many mistakes have been made but I always try to take those blunders and make them in to opportunities to learn. Every little nugget of information seems to make each job and set up a little easier. Dustin is a patient man and excellent DOP. I think that his encouragement has helped me a lot. Every time we are packing up and we both agree that we were a well oiled machine it takes the doubt away and replaces it with confidence. I am psyching on this new role and hope to be on set soon.
PS: the Arri Alexa is a beautiful machine.
